Length Tips

Here's a helpful tip or two about buying shoelaces when you don't know what length is needed:
Sneakers: I would say that the mid-40 inch range is good for the average sneaker. This length assumes 5 pairs of eyelets... and average spacing, both horizontally and vertically, between eyelets.
High tops: You might get by with mid-50 inch (at my regular price), especially women's high tops. I've noticed also that some people don't bother lacing the top pair of eyelets. Larger shoes using all the eyelets will probably require 60 or 70 inch.
The longer the lace, the greater the chance of error when estimating.
Fear Not! Ian's Shoelace Site offers easy-to-find lacing and tying methods that "lengthen" or "shorten" the laces for aesthetic and practical purposes. [from main menu, select "Lacing Comparison" under the "Lacing Shoes" submenu].
If purchasing new laces, I highly recommend Ian's shoelace calculator--the next best thing to physically measuring in the real world :)
